love is reckless

Love is reckless; not reason.
Reason seeks a profit.
Love comes on strong,
consuming herself, unabashed.

Yet, in the midst of suffering,
Love proceeds like a millstone,
hard surfaced and straightforward.

Having died of self-interest,
she risks everything and asks for nothing.
Love gambles away every gift God bestows.

Without cause God gave us Being;
without cause, give it back again.

we packed, then we flew

I’ll be your slave, maybe you’ll be my priestess. I’d live in a cave and we’d meet where all eyes are turned away. Where we can lay, where we can play… and forget the storm. Will you weep while I slip away… at Golden Dawn?

You drew a star, and I drew a circle. We hid in the car, we crossed our fingers and hurtled down the street. The fog was creeping slow, the deathbird peeping through the window. We drove on and found our way to Golden Dawn.

I read the news and you heard the sirens. We packed, then we flew to an island which no-one else could find. Where we could hide and watch the tide slide in at twilight. We made love… on and on ’til Golden Dawn.

time to end the war

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Germany and the Soviet Union failed to sign a peace treaty after the global hostilities of the mid-20th century. Technically, then, World War II never officially ended. This lack of closure doesn’t seem to have had any lingering repercussions, though, so I won’t worry about it. On the other hand, there are unresolved situations from your past that are still causing you problems. In my astrological opinion, 2006 is an ideal time to finally wrap up all the unfinished business that has been subtly draining you. It’s a perfect opportunity for the ultimate karmic cleansing, preferably carried out with grace, gratitude, and generosity.

we must simply keep believing

i tried to find some silence in this shallow space
i pushed pillows in my ears
i concealed my face
no, don’t you even try to catch my eye
it sits frozen in its place
here it’s invitation only
i’m lonely
but i’m forced to say
that i cannot see you now

yet everywhere i walk i’m crushing something
because i cannot see the stairs
i’d share my sores with you over coffee
but the queue’s 1000 years
and someone stole my badge
and now i’ve lost the right to be here
breathe the air
it’s not fair
but that’s just the way things are
and i cannot see you now

but through it all my princess holds my hand
and assures me that there’s an island
yet untouched by human hand
we must simply keep believing
and simply keep our eyes fixed on the morning
i threw my pillows to the wind
and i waited for my wings
and you cannot see me now

I have lived on the lip of insanity

I have lived on the lip
of insanity, wanting to know reasons,
knocking on a door. It opens.
I’ve been knocking on the inside!

Real value comes with madness
matzub* below, scientist above.

Whoever finds love
beneath hurt and grief

disappears into emptiness
with a thousand new disguises.

to a. nonymous

I received a note from the library director today, hand-written on fancy library stationary.
it reads:

Dear S.,

Just a note to let you know we received an anonymous donation in your honor to be placed in the Kristi Buss Fund.

What a thoughtful & well-deserved honor.

The Director’s Name

cue tears and sobbing from me.

whoever did this, thank you.

i’ll definitely need different stimuli

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Happy Holy Daze, Capricorn! I’ve been meditating on the perfect holiday gifts for you. What items might inspire you to take maximum advantage of the cosmic currents in 2006? And the answer is: anything that makes you laugh harder, deeper, faster, and more often. For me that would be something like DVDs by comedians Margaret Cho, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, and Sarah Silverman, but you might need different stimuli. The point is, you’ve got to significantly raise your Laugh Quotient in the coming months. The astrological omens say it’s the only strategy that’s guaranteed to make you an expert problem-solver, increase your intelligence, and keep you in peak health.

delightfully zapped

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): The British edition of *Cosmopolitan* still provides women with practical, no-nonsense advice like “How to love yourself after a pig-out” and “8 sizzling sex lessons your man needs to learn,” but it has also added a spirituality column. “I’ve come to the painful realization that men and shoes are not enough to make me happy,” wrote Hannah Borno, introducing the new section. “The key to true contentment lies elsewhere.” Cosmo readers now get helpful tips on consulting their guardian angels, tapping into the wisdom of dreams, and trying out various meditation techniques. If this renowned hotbed of the sensual approach to life has finally acknowledged the subtler dimensions, maybe you Capricorns, traditionally the hard-core materialists of the zodiac, might also be inspired to expand your spiritual perspective. I hope so. It’s a perfect moment for you to get delightfully zapped with a sacred epiphany.
